What Inspired the Books?
Like Loredana tells students in her author visits, every idea comes from inspiration in real life.
TO BURP OR NOT TO BURP grew out of her own mother's question on "How do they go the bathroom up there?" and her children’s relentless questions about space: What do you eat up there? How do you even become an astronaut? Each book answers those questions in a way that’s genuinely fun for kids 7-11 (and adults with a kid inside).
KARATE KAKAPO came from watching her daughter struggle kicking a soccer ball. For readers aged 3–8, it’s a story about perseverance, optimism, and what happens when you don't know what to do, but you try anwway.
HOW GOGO FOUND HER GROOVE came about after her daughter's classmate said she was going to be a "Flamingo Dancer" for Halloween, but she really meant Flamenco Dancer.
WALTZ OF THE BUTTERFLIES was inspired by a Prima Ballerina's answer to her question, "Do you still get nervous?"
These along with countless others, that are still to be published, form the basis of her desire to write books that are 'good for you', inspiring creativity and curiousity and say, "Good for you!", encouraging children to be themselves and write stories of their own.
