What Inspired the Books?

Every book Loredana has written begins with a real moment — a child’s dream, a struggle, a question that wouldn’t go away.
Her four-book space series — Destination Space, Mighty Mission Machines, To Burp or Not to Burp, and Go For Lift Off — was born from her own children’s obsession with space and what it really takes to become an astronaut. Written in partnership with Canadian astronaut Dr. Dave Williams, each book answers kids’ biggest questions about space in an engaging, informative way for ages 7 to 11.
Karate Kakapo was inspired by her daughter’s struggle to find confidence in sport. A kakapo who wants her black belt but can’t fly — and the flying kick is non-negotiable. For ages 3 to 8, it teaches perseverance, optimism, and will.

How Gogo Found Her Groove follows a flamboyant flamingo who doesn’t quite fit in — until she finds her own way to shine. Now adopted into every elementary school in the Toronto Catholic District School Board and currently in development for animation.
The Reindeer Café Cookbook mixes holiday fun with healthy habits, inspiring young people to get into the kitchen and make their own traditions. Winner of the 2025 World Cookbook Award. Proceeds support StepStones for Youth.
Waltz of the Butterflies explores the butterflies we all feel — and what to do when they show up uninvited.
